International Regulatory Requirements Training
Our International Regulatory Requirements training programs and exercises cover maritime security, ISM training and ISPS tabletop exercises.
Maritime Security
All Maritime Security training courses are conducted in accordance with the ISPS code and in conjunction with HudsonTrident. The curricula is approved and certified by DNV SeaSkill, MARAD and MSA. Courses are currently offered for SSO, CSO and PFSO.
A Vessel/Facility Personnel with Specific Security Duties course has been desinged to meet the requirements of the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments, effective January 1, 2012.
ISM Code Training
Targeted to General Management Staff, this course covers ISM code background, code amendments and future trends. It outlines the roles and responsibilities of management, DPA and Masters in audits and inspections. The course stresses port state control activities, non-conformities and corrective activities, as well as the purpose and importance of near misses, the importance of closing the loop following any audit, inspection, incident, non-conformity report.
Table Top Exercises (TTX)
Table Top Exercises cover IMO ISPS Code requirements for trading and are in compliance with the ISPS Code. These courses cover owner options when facing piracy; security level actions and considerations; International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) code updates; and security and port recertification.
Vetting Training
Through our vetting training programs, you will develop the tools required to make sound decisions about your company, your crew, your plans and your vessels. You will learn to assess risk and incorporate risk management processes into your quality systems.
Vetting Training for Senior Management (Fleet Management Vetting Awareness Training)
This program explains the vetting processes from the position of the charterer as customer. It will equip you with the knowledge to thoroughly review the challenges of the vetting process and effectively manage the vetting interface.
Seafarer Training
This course was developed to raise awareness of the Tanker vetting process among onboard officers. It covers mandatory processes and offers solutions to improve their role in these efforts. Key topics include load and discharge, inspections, charterer reports, incident management, SVDR, A&D expectations and pre-inspection vessel preparation.
Vetting Familiarization and Training for Tanker Operator Shore-based Staff
This course provides an overview of tanker vetting, TMSA, element objectives, the role and purpose of ship inspections, and the role of ship and shore management.
Fleet Management Incident Training — The Customer Vetting Prospective
This training program emphasizes best practices in incident training and response, and serves as an opportunity to re-establish confidence in a company’s safety management team should an incident occur. It stresses the importance of immediate reactions, and competency and responsibility in interfacing with the customer technical department. It improves the quality of communications, including interfacing with the media, specifically Q&A. This course also covers post-incident investigation, evidence collection and meeting preparation.
Vetting Manager Training
This course is designed for general management staff and explains the roles and responsibilities at the authority level. It covers proper training and guidance for crew, and emphasizes agenda and data preparation for customers, specifically oil majors. This is generally a two-day course.
Senior Management Review of Customer Vetting Interface
Offering insight into ways to exceed customer expectations and increase chartering business, this course covers enhanced management of vetting issues. It offers a vetting overview and guides senior management in selecting the right vetting manager and detailing the Management Review Process. It covers Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and data management, specifically vetting acceptance, rejection, inspection and TMSA targets.
Fleet Management Preparation for a Customer (Charter ) Vetting Meeting
Intended for senior management, this course can be combined with our Change Management course listed above. It covers when to go and when to avoid Vetting Meetings, establishing agendas, customer needs, interpersonal skills, meeting behavior, data preparation, dos and donts and how to conclude a meeting.
Superintendent Review of Customer Vetting Interface
This course supports general managers in properly detailing job descriptions, recruiting staff and monitoring onboard performance.

This two-day course specifically focuses on all objectives outlined in element No. 7 of the TMSA Guidelines. It includes scenarios, rationales, time tables, impacts and consequences, worst case scenarios, prioritized initiatives, Proposal for Replacement preparation, change evaluation, approval and management, communication, resource allocation and dealing with temporary changes.
